PRESENTATION OF THE MAISON DE LA CULTURE:
The galleries of the Maison de la culture, located in Édifice Marcel-Robidas since January 2012, can accommodate four exhibitions per year by artists or organizations. This unique showcase for the visual arts community also hosts themed exhibitions revolving around special projects.
The exhibitions are selected by a peer committee and the programming is determined by Ville de Longueuil’s Bureau de la culture.
The Maison de la culture also plays host to various cultural events, including talks with artists, and musical performances followed by a meet-and-greet with the musician or singer. The activities are always centered on the theme of cultural mediation—the mission of the Bureau de la culture for 2013.
For each exhibition:
- Meet the artist, tea with the artist, workshops
Residents are invited to hear the artist talk about his/her approach, experience and exhibit.
- School groups
The artist will be onsite, along with enthusiastic, trained staff members, to ensure an enriching and educational art-appreciation experience. Groups can book a visit by calling 450-463-7100, ext. 2466.
- Cultural mediation
Based on the cultural mediation framework it developed in 2012, the Bureau de la culture strives to foster interaction between artists or organizations exhibiting at the Maison de la culture and clients who are not normally exposed to culture or cultural activities.
