Le Mois de la Photo à Montréal and its Board of Directors are proud and honoured to accept the first Imperial Tobacco Canada Foundation Arts Achievement Award. We would like to thank the nominators, the selection committee, the general manager, and the board of directors of Imperial Tobacco Canada Foundation for creating and supporting this important award for Canadian arts. We would also like to congratulate the other nominees as well as the ten winners in New Creation in the Arts program.

“We gratefully acknowledge all the artists, curators, writers, speakers, production teams, and others who have participated in the exhibitions, publications, conferences and other activities since the first presentation of Le Mois de la Photo à Montréal,” said Chuck Samuels, Director General of Le Mois de la Photo à Montréal. “We would like to thank all the governmental and other institutional partners who have contributed so regularly and generously to the organization. We are indebted to the work and good will of the cultural, media, and sponsor partners who have helped make the event possible. Last, but not least, we would like to thank all our exhibition partners, past and present, whose spaces, resources, expertise, and professionalism are essential elements to the success of our event.”

The Imperial Tobacco Canada Foundation Arts Achievement Award is a significant validation of our accomplishments as well as our artistic and organizational goals. We look forward to a very successful 11th presentation of Le Mois de la Photo à Montréal in September of this year!

From September 10 to October 11, Le Mois de la Photo à Montréal will organize its
11th presentation around the theme The Spaces of the Image, developed by guest curator Gaëlle Morel. The event will feature 24 solo exhibitions by artists from 13 countries presented in a variety of different sites across the city in partnership with museums, galleries, artist-run centres, and maisons de la culture. Thanks to the generosity of our partners, all of our exhibitions and activities open to the general public will be presented free of charge.

Le Mois de la Photo à Montréal is an international biennale of contemporary photography first presented in 1989, to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the invention of photography.
