Grant Wwriting Clinic / MAI

November 7, 2011

Montreal (Quebec) Canada

Are you planning on applying for the upcoming December 1st Vivacité deadline?
Do you feel you would benefit from the guidance of a professional to strengthen your application?
MAI (Montréal, arts interculturels) is hosting a FREE grant writing clinic to help artists in the disciplines of theatre, dance, music and visual arts to strengthen their grant-writing skills. This hands-on session will pair selected artists with a grant writing professional who will revise their grant application and help artists to represent their projects clearly and concisely. Focus for the clinic will be the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec’s upcoming Vivacité Montréal call – a program for immigrant and visible minority professional artists. We strongly suggest that you visit the Vivacité website to confirm your eligibility. Guidelines and form can be found here.

This hands-on session will provide artists with grant writing tips on how to best formulate a proposal and how to best submit appropriate support materials. It is also an opportunity to better understand the funding criteria, program eligibility and jury assessment process. Artists will benefit from a total of six (6) hours of free consultation. Consultants will not be writing your grants but instead will help shape and develop your drafts.
-------------------------------------------------------

Selected participants will be admitted to the clinic based on the following mandatory
documents:
- A fairly developed draft of the project description
- Curriculum vitae (max. 3 pages)
- Visual documentation: (15 digital images, or a compilation of recent works on DVD not lasting
more than 15 minutes)
- A draft of the budget and detailed work plan are recommended, but not required for clinic selection.

-------------------------------------------------------

FREE. A maximum of 12 artists will be selected (French and English).
For professional artists – all levels, no age restrictions
DEADLINE: All applications must be received by November 7th at 5pm and sent by email to accompagnement@m-a-i.qc.ca
Successful candidates will be contacted by email on November 9th and must be available to attend an information session on November 11th from 17h-19h.
