The Darling Foundry’s cross-residencies are developing on the Asian continent!

In partnership with the Indian foundations Creative India and Inlaks Shivdasani, What About Art?, and thanks to the support of the Quebec Ministry of International Relations, the Darling Foundry is proud to be launching its brand-new program of cross-residencies with India to benefit artists of each country.

The quebec artist will be hosted in a center gathering several artistes at the heart of Mumbai’s lively Bandra quarter located 200 metres from the seashore. S/he will get a studio-flat with access to common spaces, a production bursary and logistical support for a four-month term. Thanks to a partnership with Mumbai Art Room (www.mumbaiartroom.org), the artist will also have the opportunity to present the results of his research at the end of his or her stay, as well as for a one-week trip to New Delhi in February 2013 on the occasion of the India Art Fair.

The residency includes:


-Airfare (max CAN$ 2,000)
-A live-in studio for 4 months from January to April 2013
-A stipend of CAN$ 250 per week
-A production grant of CAN$ 1,000
-Exhibition at Mumbai Art Room, located in Colaba neighbourhood
-Trip of one week in February to New Delhi during the India Art Fair

Residency in Montréal dedicated to Indian citizens residing in India


Indian artist stay at The Darling Foundry. The art center aims to be an alternative, professional complex devoted to visual artists and their supporters. With an outstanding architectural design, The Darling Foundry, located in an old industrial neighborhood of Montreal, offers various opportunities for research, creation, production, and exhibition. Its multifaceted spaces include room for private studios, residencies, workshops, art galleries, a restaurant and offices over a 3500 m2 surface.
A live-in- studio as well as common areas are provided. Artists have access to wood and metal workshops, with technical assistance if need be. In addition, each artist is given the option to participate in open studio events, studio visits by art professionals, networking events, and excursions.


The residency includes:

-Airfare (max CAN$ 2,000)
-A live-in studio for three months from August to October 2012
-A stipend of CAN$ 250 per week
-A production grant of CAN$ 1,000
