Pierre Dorion - 4 Corners

October 4, 2012

A white box contains 4 Picture Discs commissioned by ORAL to the artist and contemporary painter Pierre Dorion. Two inserts with information, numbered and signed are placed in this multiple, limited to 100 ex., a really special art work by this great artist.

“The four corners of a gallery space are illuminated by the works of Dan Flavin. I take several shots. Four segments of an interpretation of music on a long thin wire, work of Alvin Lucier conceived in 1977, are associated with my photographs. At end, this is a tribute to these two great artists.”

The B sides of each vinyl contain some 8 minutes of a music recording by two Japanese artists after they rebuilt Alvin Lucier’s famous sound object The Thin Long Wire. Over all, 4 Corners is, as he wrote, the result of Pierre Dorion important meeting with these two key figures of contemporary art. Music - generative music workshop: Kazuhiro Jo, Tomotaro Kaneko. Recorded at the art media center, Tokyo University of the Arts, 2010. Produced then embedded on these 4 vinyls with the kind permission of Alvin Lucier.
